Hi all,
sorry for the accidental double post. I was just wondering if voice chat on skype with dial up was possible. I always thought if you were on dial up, it wouldn't work at all. Some one I talk to on windows messenger told me this one person he talked to on it, the voice chat was ok, but when he tried to send her an mp3 file, things went all haywire. He said it was possible with one other person, but with two or three other people it wouldn't work as well. So I'm wondering if voice chat on skype is doable with dial up as long as you don't try a conference, or is it just so terrible it's not worth the effort?
Thanks,
wonderwoman

I've seen it done, but the quallity was so shitty, that it wasn't really worth it.

I talked to a long time friend whom I'd not spoken with in years with it and she was using dyle up. The sound quality kind of reminded me of an OK cell phone signel. HTH

Hi. I've used skype on a dial-up and the only thing I can say are two words: not recommended. It's very laggy. Sometimes the lag is so big it's impossible to talk. And it got worse with the later versions. It seems to me that as skype is trying to get its sound quality even better, it uses more bandwidth and therefore those of us who are on a dial-up won't be able to use the program. So in short, no, skype and dial-up don't mix.

Did it on gprs using my phone and my laptop and it was rubish, bare in mind that it was 2 times faster than dialup.
BEN.

Not recommended at all. I tried it here and it kept dropping calls. Pretty soon u won't be able to do anything on dial-up but check your emails and surf the web, although the latter is already dificult with some sites.
